If you are using the YardsTech® Scales (assuming the scales are already connected to Stockbook - click here if they are not):
- Turn on the YardsTech® Scales.
- Turn on the YardsTech® Stick Reader.
- The YardsTech® Stick Reader should automatically connect to the YardsTech® Scales and therefor Stockbook. There is no need to setup a reader in Stockbook (unless you are collecting DNA sample ID from a barcode reader - in that case, just select any reader).
Via Bluetooth:
- Ensure your YardsTech® Stick Reader is setup as a Bluetooth client - see here.
- Turn on your YardsTech® Stick Reader. The blue comms LED should flash quickly.
- Go to your Windows Bluetooth Settings. Click on the Bluetooth icon in the tray and select Show Bluetooth Devices, or press the windows key and type "Bluetooth and other devices settings".
- Click on the Add Device button.
- Select "Bluetooth" from the list.
- Wait for the "YTStickBT" device to appear and click on it.
- It should connect and then disconnect. Hit the Done button.
- Scroll down and select "More Bluetooth settings".
- Select the COM Ports tab.
- Find the COM port attached as Outgoing YTStickBT 'YardsTechSPP' and take note of the number.
- Open Stockbook.
- Select Electronic Id. and then Setup
- For the reader select ALEIS non-Storage.
- Select the Manual Setup button.
- Select the COM port displayed in step 10.
- You might now hear a beep from the YardsTech® Stick Reader. That is a good sign.
- Close the Setup Devices screen.
- Start Live Entry and the YardsTech® Stick Reader should connect.
